Battle of the Dogs, presented an opportunity for two legends from opposite coasts to get together, swap stories, and play hit after hit after hit.


It lived up to the hype, Back in July 22, 2020 the Hip-Hop Icon DMX competed with Snoop Dogg in a Verzuz. That celebrated their years-long discographies.

During the battle, X ran through his hits including ‘X Gon’ Give It To Ya’, ‘Party Up’, ‘Slippin’’ and more. The session saw the two rappers dancing and singing along to each other’s songs and celebrating each other’s work.


The battle saw the Ruff Ryders star in great spirits as he rapped and danced alongside the West Coast emcee. As the entertainment platform was created to honor music legends, it allowed X to get his flowers while he was alive.


The battle broke viewing records for Verzuz, with more than 525,000 concurrent viewers on Instagram and over 2million viewers overall. On Apple Music, it drew in more than 600,000 concurrent viewers and over 1.4million overall.


After verzuz live was over Snoop Dogg gave DMX and Swizz Beatz gifts.

Now, much like the rest of the hip hop community, the Verzuz team is mourning his death.

DMX, who tragically passed away on Friday (April 9) one week after suffering a severe heart attack. Fans were praying for the legendary Ruff Ryders MC to pull through after being on life support for several days, but his family sadly confirmed his death in a statement.


X's team shared a statement with Hiphop Crown Nation: "We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old. [Read the full Statement below]
