Alicia Keys Reacts to Janet Jackson Having a Crush on Her: ‘I Always Knew I Was Bae’

Janet Jackson Admitting Lesbian Crush on Alicia Keys: ‘I think I would pick Alicia Keys I think she’s wonderful’

Alicia Keys is just now reacting to a 2008 interview where Janet Jackson said she would date her.

Janet Jackson was a trending Twitter topic this past weekend after Lifetime premiered its four-part documentary about the singer’s life, the simply titled Janet Jackson.

The “LALA” singer posted a screenshot of an E! Online article from 2008, where Janet admitted she had a crush on her. In the interview with E! Online, the pop icon said that she would date Keys if she were to have a “lesbian fling.”

it reads. “When asked by E! Online who she would have a lesbian relationship with, Jackson said: ‘I think I would pick Alicia Keys. I think she’s wonderful.'”

Keys was clearly thrilled by the confession and wrote in the caption, “I always knew I was BAE,” Alicia wrote in an Instagram post. “But when @janetjackson says it 💥💥💥💥 Make sure you watch OUR Sis, THE ICON’s Doc 💯💯💯💯💯.”

Keys later responded to a follower who wrote that she must feel "validated" for Jackson's comment.

"I kinda did feel some kind of way !!!! 👑👑👑," she said.

Following the release of her career-spanning Janet documentary on Lifetime and A&E. In the doc, fans get a glimpse of her early days and legendary choreography, plus additional insight from Jackson herself on the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show controversy, where Justin Timberlake exposed her nipple. As Jackson now reveals, she asked Timberlake to not issue a statement about the incident.

“We talked once,” Jackson said in the doc. “And he said, ‘I don’t know if I should come out and make a statement.’ … And I said, ‘Listen…I don’t want any drama for you. They’re aiming all of this at me.’ So I said, ‘If I were you, I wouldn’t say anything.”

Janet says she and Justin Timberlake are "good friends" despite criticism the "Cry Me a River" singer has faced over his role in the "Nipple-gate" scandal during their 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Show performance. The duo were performing in Houston when Timberlake tore open Jackson's top, exposing a breast that was bare save a nipple ring.

In addition to the doc, the So So Def founder Jermaine Dupri allegedly cheated on the veteran pop star during their eight-year relationship.

As the four-part series concluded, the 49-year-old music exec admitted he was “reckless” with Jackson and suggested other women were the reason for their split.

“One of the weird things about dating Janet is that dating Janet attracts other women,” he said. “Girls wanted to talk to me more because I was dating her, which was really weird … and uhh, just yanno … I was a man,” insinuating he wasn’t able to control himself sexually. But Jackson argued it was more than the cheating — Dupri was also obsessed with his work to the point they’d rarely see each other.

“He was a work-a-holic,” she said. “And he was constantly working. I would not see him for like three weeks, a month. And as soon as he would come in, he would go to the club. And it’s like carve out just a little time for me…, and it was hard for him to do. His girlfriend was his work.”
