Cardi B Celebrates Becoming 1st Female Rapper to Go Diamond Multiple Times
Just a week after receiving another Grammy nomination, yet again. Cardi achieved this milestone thanks to her feature on Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” selling over 10 million units. Her first diamond single was “Bodak Yellow.”
The Bronx-bred femcee has become the first female rapper to achieve two diamond certified hits. The Recording Industry Association of America announced on Monday (Nov. 29). According to the organization; “Girls Like You,” the Bronx native’s 2018 collaboration with Maroon 5, sold over 10 million units in the U.S. market this week, earning the impressive status.
To celebrate the news, Cardi B expressed her gratitude on Twitter, writing, “Wow I got two Diamond records!” Cardi tweeted. “Thank you sooo much [Maroon 5] for including me on this song and this is the song I cater to my daughter every time I perform it.”
“I’m forever grateful,” she added, retweeting fans’ congratulatory messages.
