Cardi B breaks her silence backlash over Rob and Drugging Men

Cardi B clarifies comments following backlash over claims she used to “drug and rob men” who tried to pay her for sex

"I have a past that I can't change. We all do"\

Cardi B has further expanded on her recent explosive claims that she used to drug and rob men who tried to pay her for sex in order to make money while she used to work as a stripper.

In an Instagram Live broadcast last weekend, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper hit out at critics who have questioned her success. As she recalled working as a stripper, Cardi revealed the desperate extremes that she went to in order to survive.

“N****s must’ve forgot, my n***a, the shit that I did to muthafuckin’ survive,” she said. “I had to go strip. I had to go, ‘Oh yeah, you wanna fuck me? Yeah yeah yeah, let’s go back to this hotel.’

“And I drugged n****s up and I robbed them. That’s what I used to do. Nothing was muthafuckin’ handed to me, my n***a. Nothing!”

Cardi’s comments prompted a wide backlash on social media, and this evening (March 26) she addressed her already-infamous broadcast with a post on social media, which you can see below.

“I never claim to be perfect or come from a perfect world wit [sic] a perfect past, I speak my truth, I always speak my own shit,” she wrote, before elaborating on her view that she is part of a hip-hop culture “where you can talk about about where you come from, talk about the wrong things you had to do to get where you are”.

“I never glorified these things, I brought up in that live [sic] I never even put those things in my music because I’m not proud of it and feel a responsibility not to glorify it.

“I made the choices that I did at the time because I had very limited options,” she continued. “I was blessed to have been able to rise from that, but so many women have not. Whether or not they were poor choice at the time, I did what I had to do to survive.”

Adding that the men she spoke about in the broadcast “were men that I dated, that I was involve[d] with [and] that were conscious, willing and aware,” Cardi concluded: “I have a past that I can’t change, we all do.”

The same broadcast also saw Cardi explaining how she’s planning to write a tell-all memoir.

“I’m a good-hearted person but I have done some fucked up shit. Y’all don’t have to worry about it, y’all don’t gotta tell my story,” she said.

“You wanna know why y’all don’t gotta tell my story? Because I’m gonna write a book about my life. I’ve been through a lot of shit. I’ve been a bitch that from young been in the streets. I got influenced by the streets.”
