On Monday (Aug. 2), the Bronx rapper "Bodak Yellow" just sailed past 1 billion views on YouTube, which is an especially impressive feat given that she recently revealed the video cost a scant $15,000.

According to a report from Chart Data, Cardi B's breakout single "Bodak Yellow" (which was recently certified diamond by the RIAA) has officially secured over one billion views on YouTube.

Cardi reacted to the milestone on Twitter. “Fifteen thousand dollars, A billion views later!!!!! Wow that’s crazy! Super dope,” she wrote. “Thank you all for all the support throughout the years….. Back to the lab. Love & appreciate y’all.”

“Bodak Yellow,” as the song racked up plays and accolades on its way to becoming Cardi’s first No. 1 hit — and the first No. 1 record from a solo female rap artist since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” twenty years earlier in 1998.

This year, Cardi recently revealed the cost of “Bodak Yellow” music video, “Fun fact: ‘Bodak Yellow’ music video cost me 15 thousand dollars,” she tweeted back in January. “I was in Dubai and I said… I gotta fly Picture (videographer) out here… BOOM BOOM BANG! Ya know the rest.” By comparison, her more recent videos, like the ones for “Money” and “WAP,” cost astronomically more — $400,000 and $1 million, respectively.
