The Rock's mother is finally addressing Will Smith’s infamous slap at the 2022 Oscars.
Momma Rosalie Rock: ‘He Slapped All Of Us’
Chris Rock’s mom, Rose Rock, has chimed in with her thoughts about Will Smith slapping Chris at the 2022 Oscars ceremony on March 27.
In a video interview with wistv.com, which aired last Friday (April 22), Rosalie “Rose” Rock recalled watching the ceremony at her home when she saw Chris getting slapped by Smith in front of millions of television viewers. The South Carolina native, 77, thought it was staged, but then realized it wasn’t after Will hurled obscenities at the comedian.
“But he really slapped me. Because when you hurt my child, you hurt me.”
Rose was also asked in the interview what she’d like to say to Smith today if the two were able to have a conversation.
When asked what she would have said to Smith if she ever had the chance, Ms. Rock replied, “I have no idea what I would say other than, ‘What in the world were you thinking? Because you did a slap, but so many things could have happened from that,’” she explained. “Chris could have stepped back and fallen, and you really could have gotten taken out in handcuffs. So, you didn’t think.”
