Dave Chappelle has words for Katt Williams following viral 'Club Shay Shay' interview

Chappelle has shared his thoughts on Katt Williams‘ recent “Club Shay Shay” interview, in which Williams insults other Black comedians.

Dave Chappelle made it clear that he does not agree that Katt Williams’ viral interview downing some of his peers has been good for comedy.

The veteran standup comic candidly spoke about Williams taking aim at Cedric The Entertainer and Steve Harvey when he appeared on stage at the San Jose Improv on Friday (Jan. 19). On stage at MonDERAYS at the Hollywood Improv on Friday, an event hosted by comedian DeRay Davis.

“Tell me, what part of the game f**ks up another n**ga’s paper? What part of the game is about telling on another n**ga?” asked Chappelle during a recent set at the San Jose Improv.

He ethered n**gas. He didn’t say anything about any of these white boys. None of these white boys function like that,” said Chappelle. “Katt is one of the best painters in the game. So why are you drawing ugly pictures of us? Stop. Hurt people hurt people, but I am a hurt person that never hurt people, and he does it all the time.”

"Alright, alright, "I'm at war with the Illuminati, too, but what part of that war is ethering Cedric the Entertainer?" Chappelle joked. "'I'm gonna dismantle the Illuminati, and I'm gonna start with Cedric the Entertainer!' Ced's a good dude. He's old, he's fat, leave this n***a alone."

Dave Chappelle also referenced Williams' diss towards Steve Harvey, alluding that the Family Feud host "doesn't do" comedy anymore. In attendance at the show was Deray Davis, who agreed with Marlon Wayans claim that Williams' viral moment was "good for comedy." "No, shut up, n***a," Chappelle responded.

"You know why I disagree? Because I put a special out the same day. It was fine. And this n***a came out [and said], 'I read 6,000 books ... what the fuck is you talking about?"

Chappelle's latest Netflix special was released on Dec. 31, but Williams' remarks on Cedric the Entertainer, Harvey, Kevin Hart and other comedians trended shortly after the Club Shay Shay episode dropped. To date, the episode has 53 million views after premiering on Jan. 3.
