Eddie Murphy is returning as Detective Axel Foley four decades after the character made his big-screen debut
Netflix releases ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’ trailer
Eddie Murphy is back in Beverly Hills:
On Thursday morning (Dec. 14), the streaming service network has just released the action-packed trailer to “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” the fourth installment of the Eddie Murphy cop film franchise.
In the first trailer for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F — the latest installment of Murphy’s beloved classic action-comedy franchise — the actor-comedian, Murphy reunites with his old buddies from the first film — John Ashton and Judge Reinhold as Beverly Hills cops John Taggart and Billy Rosewood; Bronson Pinchot as the inimitable Serge; and Paul Reiser as Foley's old Detroit partner, Det. Jeffrey Friedman.
"After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy," the synopsis adds.
Directed by Mark Molloy, “Axel F” hits screens about 30 years after “Beverly Hills Cop III” was released in 1994. Murphy returns as the titular character, a Detroit cop solving crimes in Beverly Hills. Judge Reinhold and John Ashton also return as local cops Lt. Billy Rosewood and Sgt. John Taggart.
The fourth installment of the “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise is set to arrive in summer 2024. It’s been almost 30 years since Axel Foley’s last appearance on the big screen in 1994’s “Beverly Hills Cop III.”
In the original 1984 film — a box-office smash that shot Murphy to international stardom — the titular cop is a Detroit detective who goes rogue and heads to southern California to solve the murder of his childhood friend (James Russo).
