Onika “Nicki Minaj” Maraj turns 39 today
Today, Dec. 8, marks the birthday of Queens rapper and first lady of Young Money Nicki Minaj. She now turns 39.
Minaj is originally from Port of Spain, Trinidad, where she was born, but moved with her family to Jamaica, Queens when she was five years old. She was raised in the borough's neighborhood, and has represented hard for it throughout her career.
Onika Maraj has ruled over her empire with a golden crown and colorful wigs, all while making sure she gets her respect along the way.
Minaj's career puts her in an elite category of rappers, her success around the world considers she may be one of the greatest female rappers in the hip-hop industry. Since the release of her first single, “Your Love” back in 2010, As of today Minaj has continued to dominate with her lyrical flows and melodies.

A few months back, Young Money raised their voice in the debate about who wears the crown and carries the title of “Queen of Rap,” Young Money founder explained that Nicki Minaj was the reason the term “Queen of Rap” was coined, and as such, this automatically places her in the position for the crown.
The label wrote on its official Twitter account, “The title of “Queen of Rap” didn’t even exist until @NICKIMINAJ did the tingz that she did. And the Queen ain’t done yet. Get on ya knees.”
In July─Nicki, Drake, and Wayne linked up for “Seeing Green,” a bonus track that was included on the re-release of Nicki’s 2009 mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty.
