Ice Cube crowns ‘No Vaseline’ best diss song of All-Time: “It's not even close”

Ice Cube says “it’s not even close” that ‘No Vaseline‘ is the best hip-hop diss track of All-Time.

Ice Cube declares “No Vaseline” as “Best Diss Ever”

Ice Cube wants it to be known that he recorded the “best diss track” of all time.

During a recent appearance on the Earn Your Leisure podcast, the hip-hop Icon was asked to name his top five diss tracks, kicking things off by saying “No Vaseline” is “the top battle song ever” and “it’s not even close.”

Cube mentioned his four vicious tracks by 2Pac, Nas, Boogie Down Productions and Kool Moe Dee.

“I mean, I would go with, you know, ‘Hit ‘Em Up’ is a good one,” Cube said. “‘Ether’ is dope. I would go with ‘The Bridge Is Over,’ and I don’t know, I think I gotta go with ‘Let’s Go.'”

Cube recorded “No Vaseline” in 1991. He was taking on all four members of his former group, plus manager Jerry Heller.

“No Vaseline” included ruthless lines like, “Looking like straight Bozos/I saw it coming, that's why I went solo/And kept on stompin'/While y'all mothafuckers moved straight outta Compton.” Shortly after the song's release, Dr. Dre left the group, leading to the end of N.W.A.
