J.R. Smith Finished His First Semester At College With A 4.0 GPA
Former NBA guard JR Smith celebrated earning a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) during his first semester of college at North Carolina A&T State University.
The 36-year-old former NBA player also joined the golf team as a walk-on in his first year at the school. The two-time NBA champion who spent 16 years in the league is getting a degree in liberal studies.
“I can’t even describe the feeling… especially when you don’t think you can do it… you always hear about your disabilities,” JR Smith posted a video of his reaction to Instagram after finding out his final grades from the fall semester.
Here's part of what Smith said below:
“I can't even describe the feeling, I ain't even gonna lie to you. I ain't gonna lie. A lot of hard work went into that s— you know … Monday through Friday eight to eleven, sometimes longer, straight schoolwork. When you're not used to going to school and doing all that s—, ahh man … freshman year you don't think you can do it, you always hear about your disabilities.”
Smith ended the video, with a smile saying, “I'm happy about that one,”
You could see in the video just how reflective and emotional Smith was about the accomplishment.
