Jeezy and Jeannie Mai reportedly apply for marriage.
Jeannie Mai and Jeezy apply for marriage license
According to TMZ, and other sources the couple applied for a marriage license from the Fulton County Court Clerk in Georgia on Monday (March 29). Considering the legal document in only valid for six months in The Peach State, they have until the end of September to walk down the aisle.
Jeezy (real name Jay Wayne Jenkins) was originally planning to propose to Mai during a trip to Vietnam last spring. But because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he wound up staging a proposal at his Los Angeles home during a special date night.
“Jeannie and Jay were set for a trip to Vietnam this April,” Mai’s rep said at the time. “What Jeannie didn’t know is that Jay was planning to propose. Instead, Jay decided to bring Vietnam to Jeannie with a surprise quarantine date night in his home filled with Vietnamese food and decor.”
Back in 2018, The “Real” co-host and the Atlanta rapper began dating and got engaged in March 2020 at his house after their trip to Vietnam was canceled because of the pandemic.
“Jeannie and Jay were set for a trip to Vietnam this April. What Jeannie didn’t know is that Jay was planning to propose,” her camp told People, noting Jeezy surprised Mai with a “quarantine date night in his home filled with Vietnamese food and decor.”
Jeezy and Mai’s relationship appeared to strengthen after she underwent emergency surgery for epiglottitis, a life-threatening inflammatory illness, in the fall that forced her to drop out of “Dancing With the Stars.” While she recovered, Jeezy appeared on “The Real” to update viewers and her co-hosts about her health.
“I thank y’all for y’all prayers and y’all support,” Jeezy said. “She’s doing well; she’s eating everything in the house. But she’s definitely doing well.” Mai later said she had to go on a liquid-only diet while she healed, which caused her to lose 10 pounds.
“I got kind of depressed because I lost about 10 pounds from just eating liquids, so I am really frail right now,” “The Real” co-host told People. “Really, really frail.”
This will be Mai’s second marriage, as she split from ex-husband Freddy Harteis in 2017 after 10 years of marriage.
Jeezy is the father of three children.
