Joe Budden was not impressed by J. Cole’s choice to use his old Honda Civic during the Trunk Sale Tour to promote his new album, The Fall Off.

Budden says that Kendrick Lamar’s ‘GNX’ rollout featured more genuine storytelling.
Joe Budden even acknowledged he was happy when the car broke down: “Jermaine Cole in this Civic is stupid, and I’m glad it broke down. God’ll humble you. God’ll fix you... That was fake humble.”
During a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, the former rapper shared his thoughts on J. Cole’s travels across the U.S. in his Honda Civic.
“Nobody in the world that could not be happier that J. Cole Civic broke down, it’s me,” Budden said. “I jumped for joy when the news came across my feed that J. Cole and this stupid performative ass Civic broke down.”
Cole has been using a classic Honda Civic in his recent activities, claiming it's the same vehicle he had at the start of his career before achieving worldwide fame. However, Budden expressed doubts about the sincerity of this gesture.
“That was fake humble,” he said. “Stop with this ‘I’m rich, but I relate to you’ … You selling a lot of records and lying to my face in the process with this Civic shit.”
Budden also reacted to reports of fans visiting the mechanic shop in Phoenix during the car's repair, making the breakdown a part of the experience.
“J. Cole fans going to make me hate them too,” Budden said. “Jermaine Cole in this Civic is stupid. I’m glad it broke down.”
Simultaneously, Budden commended Kendrick Lamar for integrating a vehicle into his storytelling, highlighting Kendrick’s use of the Buick GNX in his latest album.
“When Kendrick wanted to put a car in the story, boy did he pick a cool one,” Budden said. “Kendrick story that he put to the GNX was gangster.”
