LeBron James Becomes Part-Owner of the Boston Red Sox: joins Fenway Sports Group as partner

LeBron James to become part-owner of Boston Red Sox.

Fenway Sports Group adds LeBron James as partner, approves deal to jump-start plan to acquire more teams

On Tuesday, The Boston Globe reported that James, along with his good friend and business partner Maverick Carter joined Fenway Sports Group as partners making them part-owners of the Boston Red Sox. They’re also the first (and only) Black partners in the group’s history.

The news came as Fenway Sports Group approved a $750 million private investment that — contingent on MLB’s approval — would make RedBird Capital Partners its third-largest partner, according to the report.

The Boston Globe's Michael Silverman reported James purchased an "undisclosed amount" of shares in Fenway Sports Group, which will also give him part-ownership in other entities along with the Red Sox under the FSG umbrella.

While the move may come as a shock to some, James already has an ownership stake in English soccer team Liverpool Football Club, which is also owned by Fenway Sports Group.
