LeBron James plans to provide transitional housing for students, and families in need of safe shelter, at his 'I Promise School'.
LeBron James announces ‘I PROMISE Village’ as housing for Akron students, families in need
(The 'I PROMISE Village') by Graduate Hotels will provide housing for students and families struggling with homelessness, domestic violence and other life challenges.
This partnership with Graduate Hotels will "serve as transitional housing for I PROMISE families" in the historic Westmont apartment building located within a few blocks of the I PROMISE School in Akron.
LeBron James foundation opened the school for at-risk third and fourth graders last year and plans to expand to first through eighth grade by 2022. He has promised free tuition to the University of Akron when the students graduate.
"Proud of this!!!!" James tweeted on Monday. "There's always more to be done when it comes to giving my kids an opportunity to be successful in life. Every barrier we remove can possibly change their family's life and we're never going to stop!!"
