Donald J. Trump pardoned Lil Wayne at the recommendation of Deion Sanders
Deion Sanders has apparently played a part in Lil Wayne’s presidential pardon.
Mr. Wayne 'a provider for his family, a friend to many, a man of faith, a natural giver to the less fortunate, a waymaker, a game changer.' Sanders wrote
The Jackson State football coach, Fort Myers, FL native spoke on behalf of the rapper’s pardon, which was granted by outgoing President Donald J. Trump.
The rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, pleaded guilty to illegal gun possession on Dec. 11, 2020 after being arrested a year earlier. He was awaiting sentencing later this month and faced up to 10 years in federal prison.
Thanks to Sanders and Brett Berish of Sovereign Brands, who advocated for the pardon, the gun charge against Lil Wayne will be wiped from his record, and he will avoid prison altogether.
