LL Cool J honored with statue in Queens
Recently, the Queens emcee was honored with his own statue in his hometown of Queens, New York─The piece was created by NYC artist Sherwin Banfield, featuring a young LL COOL J wearing his iconic Kangol hat with a Boombox Soundsystem body holding a cassette tape of his debut studio album, Radio.
“Anything is possible. ✊🏾🌹 Statue of me in Corona Park, Queens by the talented @sherwintheartist,” LL captioned his Instagram post. “A Sculptural Sonic Monument dedicated to the legacy of Queens Hip-Hop legend @llcoolj ,” wrote Banfield. “His native Queens, NY and historical performances at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. This Monument is also known as The G.O.A.T. Monument🐐.”
