The feud ignited after J. Cole called himself, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar the “big three” on “First Person Shooter,” which Kendrick rejected on “Like That”.

The Drake-Kendrick Lamar feud heavily involved J. Cole, who briefly dissed Kendrick before apologizing and removing his track, leading to much speculation about his true stance and future projects.
On a recent episode of the Rory and Mal podcast, Mal stated that J. Cole originally included various features from Drake and Kendrick Lamar on 'The Fall Off,' but had to re-do the album following the beef.
“Kendrick was on the album, and Drake was on the album. Well, was […] cause now he gotta do his whole album over,” according to OVO Mal he stated.
Cole has hinted at his highly anticipated album, “The Fall Off,” with fans eagerly looking forward to its release.
While there are rumors and fan theories, J. Cole hasn't confirmed that he had multiple features from Drake and Kendrick Lamar on a planned "The Fall Off" album that was abandoned due to the beef; instead, after the conflict, Cole released tracks like "Port Antonio" addressing the fallout and apologized for dissing Kendrick. However, his current project is still eagerly awaited, with hints of past collaborations (such as with Kendrick) reappearing on his podcast, indicating potential material rather than a completed, discarded album with major features.
Mal (from the Rory and Mal podcast) claimed that J. Cole's album The Fall Off originally had features from both Drake and Kendrick Lamar, but the ongoing rap beef forced Cole to scrap those collaborations and rework the project, highlighting his maturity in prioritizing friendships over lyrical beef. Cole seemingly confirmed this by backing out of the feud and later apologizing for his diss track against Kendrick, showing respect for both artists.
