Nas Honored With His Own Day In Queens
Grammy award-winning, King's Disease rapper who grew up in Queensbridge Houses, received a Key to The City from Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. for his "outstanding career achievements in music."
The news was revealed in Twitter post from Queens Borough President: “Humbled to give @Nas the 🔑 to Queens and declare September 23rd Nas Day in Queens,” He tweeted.
Richards. Franck D. Joseph, who oversees Richards’ office, later took to Instagram to announce the news.
“Nasir Jones is not only God’s son, but he’s Queens’ son,” he captioned a photo of Nas throwing the candle. “That’s why @drichardsqns presented him with not just a proclamation but also the Key to Queens borough tonight.”
