Klay Thompson is adjusting to a new reality in his 15th year in the NBA.

Thompson, who started every single game he played for the Warriors from 2012 to ‘23, began the 2025-26 campaign in the Mavericks’ starting five. But after he struggled in the team’s opening seven games, shooting 26.2% from deep and logging 8.1 points per contest, Dallas coach Jason Kidd sent Thompson to a bench role.

It seems that not all of Klay Thompson's NBA peers are supportive of his relationship with Megan Thee Stallion. On a recent episode of the Hoopin’ N Hollerin’ podcast, Patrick Beverley and Jason Williams implied that the "Big Ole Freak" rapper might be responsible for the athlete's underwhelming performance at the beginning of the 2025-26 season.

“I am from West Virginia, man, I have been taught a lot from old folks, old white folks,” Williams said. “It only takes one pus*y to drag a battleship across the desert. That is how powerful it is.”

“Referring to my GF as a ‘pus*y’ is so disgusting and disturbing,” Thompson wrote on Instagram. “Especially from someone who played in the NBA. How would yall feel if I referred to your wives in such a way? @patbev21. Do better fellas. Very disappointing.”

Thompson currently averages 8.5 points per game in his second season with Dallas and shoots 38.9 percent from deep. Megan has attended multiple games during the slump, including a recent Mavericks matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Around that time, she posted a photo of a key in front of a house and hinted that the couple may have taken a major step in their relationship. Last week, she also posted a video of Thompson bringing her flowers after he arrived late to pick her up at the airport.

Williams continued his take during the segment. “Klay Thompson, I ain’t saying it is what it is,” he said. “But that might be what it is.”

Beverley, who appeared in the discussion, also drew backlash after fans reacted to the clip. Williams, known as “White Chocolate,” kept his position throughout the conversation.
