Parlux Fragrances Company That Sued Jay-Z Now Owes Him $4.5 Million

Jay-Z is owed $4.5 Million in a perfume lawsuit against Parlux Fragrances.

Jay-Z Wins $4.5 Million in Parlux Lawsuit

The case went to trial in New York City last fall for three weeks and Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, testified for two days, according to the outlet.

Page Six reports on Thursday (February 24), that an appellate court ruled on Thursday that Jay and his company “are entitled to summary judgment on their royalties counterclaim.” As a result, Hov is entitled to receive $4.5 million in royalties from the perfume company.

The perfume company Parlux filed a $67 million lawsuit against the “Empire State of Mind” rapper in 2016 accusing him of failing to uphold his end of a 2012 contract to promote his eponymous fragrance – Gold Jay Z.

Jay-Z's lawyer Alex Spiro, a lawyer asked the jury to grant his client’s counterclaim against Parlux seeking over $4.5 million in alleged unpaid royalties. But the jury also found that Parlux shouldn’t have to pay damages to Jay-Z either.

“The record is clear: Parlux sold licensed products after July 31, 2015, but failed to pay royalties on those sales,” Justice John Higgitt wrote.
