Snoop Dogg is celebrating after being officially inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The Long Beach legend took to Instagram on Wednesday (Jan. 18.) to share his excitement about the induction and being entered into the Songwriters Hall of Fame alongside Sade and Teddy Riley.

“Damn, Songwriters Hall of Fame? That’s big,” he said in a video. “And just to think, I’ve been telling people for the past seven years, ‘Who you wanna do a song with, Snoop?’ I’d always say Sade. And now we going to the Songwriters Hall of Fame on the same day. Not only that, Teddy Riley? New jack swing? I’m going in with him? Man, God is good.”

Snoop continued: “Just a little kid from the East Side of Long Beach that had a big ass dream. It is true that dreams can come true. If it happened to me, it can happen to you. Keep dreaming, keep believing, keep being you. Keep God in your life. Do more right than wrong. Make your life a song. Thank you.”

This will be the fifth consecutive induction ceremony at which a songwriter associated with rap or hip-hop has been honored.

The Death Row Records owner further expressed his gratitude in an another Instagram post, writing: “Thank. U. im honored @songwritershalloffame.”

As previously reported, this is the fifth consecutive year of the Songwriters Hall of Fame to see the induction of a rap or hip-hop artist, following Jay-Z in 2017, Jermaine Dupri in 2018, Missy Elliott in 2019, and Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams as The Neptunes in 2022. The organization put a pause on induction ceremonies in both 2020 and 2021 on account of the COVID-19 pandemic.

““The music industry does not exist without songwriters delivering great songs first. Without them there is no recorded music, no concert business, no merch… nothing, it all starts with the song and the songwriter," said Songwriters Hall of Fame and 2016 inductee Nile Rodgers. "We are therefore very proud that we are continually recognizing some of the culturally most important songwriters of all time and that the 2023 slate represents not just iconic songs but also diversity and unity across genres, ethnicity and gender, songwriters who have enriched our lives and, in their time, literally transformed music and the lives of billions of listeners all over the world.”

52nd annual Induction and Awards Gala. The gala is slated for Thursday, June 15, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
