Actress Shannon Elizabeth was anticipating a call regarding the role of “Buffy” for the new ‘Scary Movie 6’

Shannon Elizabeth, known for her role as “Buffy,” was hoping to be cast in ‘Scary Movie 6,’ Marlon Wayans responded, “Love Shannon, definitely wasn’t personal. But it was toooooo many people coming back,” he said.

Actress Shannon Elizabeth revealed that she was looking forward to reprising her role as Buffy Gilmore in the forthcoming Scary Movie 6, but was not contacted by the production team to be part of the new film. 

Despite being an original cast member from the 2000 film, Elizabeth was not asked to reprise her role for the reunion, which stars original members Regina Hall and Anna Faris.

Elizabeth told Entertainment Tonight she was really hoping to be part of the new project but said, “didn't get the call.”

The actress expressed support for the project, stating, “I'll be watching it like a fan, with everyone else,” adding that she believes the reunion will be special.

Although her character, Buffy Gilmore, was famously killed in the first movie, fans and the actress herself anticipated her return due to the franchise's lack of consistent continuity and its tendency to bring back deceased characters.

The latest Scary Movie installment, featuring the return of the Wayans family, is scheduled for release on June 5, 2026. 

Marlon Wayans addressed the absence, telling The Shade Room it wasn't personal, but that there were "tooooo many people coming back," leading to the exclusion of some original cast members.
