Ashanti and Nelly has reportedly been legally rockin’ with each other for nearly six months.
According to TMZ, the couple secretly married on Dec. 27, 2023, Although documents don't show where the marriage took place, it was officiated in St. Louis County, the Country Grammar rapper's hometown.
The couple, who are also expecting their first child together, seem to still be planning a public ceremony for their marriage. During an appearance on Entertainment Tonight, the "Happy" artist said she plans on the event having "a combination of fashion, glam, Caribbean vibes."
"I have to have a beach and ocean and sunshine and palm trees," Ashanti told ET, linked in the videos below.
The singer "Foolish" singer also took the outlet behind-the-scenes of her island-themed maternity shoot. Their new baby will be Nelly's third biological child. He also adopted two children from his late sister Jackie Donahue.
Ashanti and Nelly's rekindled romance surprised fans, given their history of being an on-and-off couple from 2003 until the early 2010s. After spending nearly a decade apart and dating other people, the pair reconnected shortly after the 2021 Verzuz battle between Fat Joe and Ja Rule where Nelly was seen warmly hugging Ashanti on stage. Since then, the singer has described their renewed relationship as "superb."
"Before, sometimes we would argue and walk out, slam the door, and not talk for a few days," she told ET. "Now it's kind of like, 'All right, you good?' You know, give me a kiss goodbye and it's over...It's not like holding on and bickering and we find out what the resolution is. We apologize...it used to take me a little longer to apologize."
