The two hip-hop moguls followed years of distance and rumored tension between the two, despite their long history in the Miami hip-hop scene.

At the Miami stop of “Make America Slime Again,” YoungBoy brought Birdman and DJ Khaled on stage to perform together.
Cash Money Records’ Birdman and DJ Khaled renewed their bond at the Youngboy NBA concert tour “Make America Slime Again” in Miami, Florida. After years of no communication and rumored tension, they even joined each other onstage, rekindling a relationship that was pivotal during a significant period in hip-hop.
The friendship between DJ Khaled and Birdman began in the early 1990s, prior to the official founding of Cash Money Records. Their bond formed well before they became prominent figures in the hip-hop scene, with Khaled observing the initial stages of Cash Money in New Orleans.
1993: Khaled worked as a DJ at a record store in New Orleans called Odyssey, where he first met Birdman and Lil Wayne. At the time, Birdman and his crew were selling cassettes out of the trunks of their cars.
2006–2011: Birdman’s Cash Money Records became a central partner in DJ Khaled’s career as he released a string of influential albums, such as Listennn... the Album and We the Best. During this time, Birdman frequently featured in Khaled's videos and publicly called him “family for life”.
August 2010: The partnership became official when Birdman signed Khaled and his We the Best Music Group to Cash Money Records.
Mid-2010s: Their relationship cooled amidst legal troubles within Cash Money, specifically between Birdman and Lil Wayne. Khaled also began forging a new partnership with Epic Records, and by May 2015, he had amicably parted ways with Cash Money.
June 2017: Khaled publicly maintained his support for Birdman in an interview with The Breakfast Club, stating, “I got nothing but love for Birdman”. This came after Rick Ross released a song, “Idols Become Rivals,” which suggested that Birdman had taken advantage of Khaled.
October 2025: The two rekindled their friendship publicly after years of silence by reconnecting at a concert in Miami.
