Drake accused of banning Kendrick Lamar's ‘Not Like Us in Houston, Texas via TMZ.

Speaking of "Not Like Us" the biggest anthem of 2024 has climbed back to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 this week. The loudest of his Drake disses has ridden high for 10 weeks since debuting at No. 1 in May. Metro Boomin and Future's "Like That," infamously featuring Kendrick's rap war-inciting verse, has been on the chart for a full four months, holding strong at No. 14 last week.

On Monday (July 22), a Houston DJ named DJ Ari replied back to a user on X, formerly known as Twitter, who had claimed, "Drake really got Not Like Us banned in Houston."

"Yea i done already got in trouble a few times for playing it at some clubs," Ari responded in the tweet below.

Other people tweeted out similar allegations, with one person claiming the clubs Sekai, Clé, Prospect Park and Kamp didn't allow the track to be played.

Shortly, after DJ admitted that "she got in trouble" for playing Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ diss track, taking to her Instagram Story, "Headlines can be misleading. Drake nor J. Prince never told me to play the song. Promoters and people that respect those guys told me not to, and it was understood. That's it, that's all."

Drake was discovered by J. Prince’s son, Jas Prince, back in 2007 and since then J. Prince has had Drake’s back. And though J. Prince has had his own beef with Birdman and Lil Wayne, that hasn’t stopped him from supporting Drake’s career.

Prince is best known for finding Rap-A-Lot Records in 1987. He has also helped launch the careers of Z-Ro, Devin the Dude, Do or Die, Geto Boys, and several others.

Prince’s son, Jas Prince, brought Drake to Prince’s attention after he discovered the then-Degrassi actor and budding rapper on MySpace. The following year, Prince signed Drake to Aspire Music Group, which was partly owned by Jas, as well as Lil Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant.

Because of this, Prince is often associated with helping Drake get signed to Young Money.

Which evidently, Drake hasn’t forgotten.
