“Y’all Are Going To See Divorce Sisters, Alright? I'm just going to start directing... Budden said.”
On Monday (June 9), Perry defended his portrayal of Black women amid the release of ‘Straw’: ‘I’m paying homage,’ and he says he has nothing to say to those who take issue with his portrayal of Black life and, in particular, Black womanhood.
“I say nothing to those people who think that my films focus on the struggle of Black women, because they’re right. It does,” Perry said during a recent interview with True Love Magazine.
Additionally, The Joe Budden Podcast is recapping Perry's 2025 BET Awards speech. Tyler Perry delivered a powerful speech that included calling out Hollywood studios and thanking Black women.
