Kanye West aka Ye is designing a car made of foam.
Kanye West’s reveals ‘Foam Vehicle’ first concept
The industrial design arm of Kanye West’s company Donda dropped on Tuesday the first visual hint on what it’s calling the “Donda Foam Vehicle.”
Kanye West is looking to expand his Yeezy empire into the automobile industry ─ A “DONDA FOAM VEHICLE” concept teaser surfaced during Steven Smith’s announcement as the Head of Donda Industrial Design.
The car appears to feature huge wheels and bare windows. The statement for the Donda Foam Concept reads: “Donda Foam Vehicle, Conceptualized, Designed, Manufactured in the United States, Amen.”
Hypebeast speculates that the vehicle will be manufactured in tandem with Tesla due to Kanye’s close relationship with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
The name raises many questions about how the car could be constructed, with foam being an interesting choice for an automobile — as opposed to using the usual composites, aluminum and steel.
Kanye's Shoe designer Steven Smith, who has collaborated with West on previous projects, will take the lead on the design.
Smith has been working closely with Kanye West on footwear since 2016. He’s previously held design positions at New Balance, Reebok, Adidas and Nike throughout his decorated four-decade career.
