Gates also mentioned it in his song "Fairytale," "I was molested inside of my mother's home / she ain't believe me when I was young... That's when I stole my grandmother's gun / I walked in that bitch and I put him up.

Kevin Gates shared his experience of being sexually assaulted during childhood with Shannon Sharpe on the latest episode of Club Shay Shay.

During a conversation about his 2021 interview on Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson, where he revealed being molested, Gates confirmed that he was sexually assaulted as a teenager. When questioned about whether he faced threats for speaking about his childhood abuse, the rapper repsond,

"He did," adding, "Yeah, he outta here."

After an uncomfortable pause, Sharpe said, "I guess I'll leave that alone."

The Pro Football Hall of Famer, Shannon Sharpe then asked about the cause of death of his abuser, to which Gates reiterated, "He outta here," before saying with a smile, "He'll never do that to anybody again."

Coming away of that situation, Gates believes he "broke generational curses" by preventing further victims of sexual assault, while also creating an open line of communication with his children.

"I don't wanna say too much, but I really broke generational curses with that situation because people that came before me, they was raped," he said. "And it created the space for me to have with my children to where my children know, don't nobody never touch you, not even me. I had these open conversations with my children, they are equipped. I created a space for them to be able to tell their dad anything."

Gates shared that talking about his sexual abuse has resulted in interactions with men who have hugged him and cried while at the gym. "I created a space, and I tell them, 'You was vulnerable.' Then, we have built ourselves into machines to where we can protect the inner child."
