Weezy’s highly-anticipated Tha Carter VI will finally arrive this summer
Lil Wayne is officially returning with Tha Carter VI on June 6.
The fifth album in Wayne’s Tha Carter series dropped in 2018. He’s released several other projects since then, including Welcome 2 Collegrove with 2 Chainz and The Fix Before Tha VI, both released in 2023.
As the date for the release of Lil Wayne‘s album approaches next month, the New Orleans rap legend has shared on Monday (May 26) a 20-second clip of bits of information for fans to revel in ahead of its drop. “Countdown to Tha Carter VI Pre Order Now Coming 6.6.25,” Wayne tweeted.
In the April cover story interview with Rolling Stone, Weezy shared an impressive list of star-studded collaborators who are expected to be on his album Tha Carter VI.
Weezy revealed the list during a listening session, Wyclef Jean, Andrea Bocelli, Miley Cyrus, Elephant Man, Machine Gun Kelly, Bono, Wheezy, Ye, his son Kameron Carter, and more on the album. The publication has also revealed that “Wayne recorded a track featuring an uncleared Billie Eilish sample,” though it is uncertain if that will make it to the album. Weezy said of what to expect of the album, “If there’s one thing about this album that’s different, it’s me approaching it like, ‘Man, what would I sound like on something with such and such?” Wyclef Jean also told the outlet regarding working on the project, “Leaving Wyclef Jean and Lil Wayne in a studio for 24 hours is a dangerous thing. You don’t know what’s going to pop out.” Lil Wayne even added later in the interview, “You going to probably do like eight songs [with Wyclef] because he’s going to keep flipping what you did on one [song] and make a whole [new] song out of that shit.”
Lil Wayne previously confirmed to listeners that Tha Carter VI is set to release on June 6 back in February. Stay tuned for more info about the album soon.
