Nas dismisses Super Bowl Halftime Performance

Queensbridge rap legend respects the Super Bowl Halftime Show stage but prefers to watch the “pros” perform.

During a recent sit-down interview, Nas mentioned to Complex that he has no interest in performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

When asked if he would ever perform on the Super Bowl Halftime Show stage, he described it as “super rockstar shit,” but emphasized that he prefers to let others take on that role.

Nah, I don't want to do ... I can't say I don't want to do the Super Bowl, but I don't, Nas said. Why would I do that? Leave it to the professionals. Leave it to the pros. I'm a pro at what I do.

I want to watch dope halftime shows and that's what has been happening lately so salute to all of them, Nas added.

The 52-year-old New York emcee has established himself as one of hip-hop's most esteemed lyricists and storytellers, prioritizing artistry over spectacle. Although the Super Bowl Halftime Show is considered one of the most significant platforms in music, Nas mentioned that performing there doesn't align with his priorities.

In recent years, audiences have witnessed stars such as Rihanna, Travis Scott, and Shakira present visually stunning and culturally significant halftime shows, which Nas seems happy to watch from the crowd.

Bad Bunny is scheduled to headline the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show on February 8, 2026, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. This is a notable achievement as the Puerto Rican singer and rapper will be the first solo artist performing primarily in Spanish to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show. He had previously performed at Super Bowl LIV in 2020 with Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.
