NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says, “We would always welcome Taylor to play.”

Roger Goodell: “I’m waiting for my friend Jay-Z. It’s in his hands. I’m waiting for the smoke to come out.”
Taylor Swift is “always welcome” to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, Goodell stated. According to Billboard, Cardi B revealed that she was invited to perform but chose to turn it down.
On Wednesday, (September 3), Roger Goodell basically offered an open invitation to Taylor Swift to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, mentioning that she’s “welcome at any time.”
“We would always love to have Taylor play,” Goodell mentioned during an appearance on the Today Show. “She is a special, special talent and obviously, she would be welcome at any time.”
When directly questioned about any official plans to have Swift perform at the halftime show, Goodell remained evasive. “I can’t tell you anything about that,” he said at first, but when pressed, he added: “It’s a maybe.”
Regarding the timing of an announcement, Goodell left it to Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation is in charge of the Super Bowl Halftime Show. “I’m waiting on my friend Jay-Z to help me with that one,” Goodell said. “It’s in his hands. I’m waiting for the smoke to come out.”
Since 2020, Jay-Z and his company Roc Nation have been responsible for producing the Super Bowl halftime shows.
Representatives for Swift, Jay-Z, and Roc Nation did not promptly reply to Rolling Stone’s inquiries for comment.
In case there was any uncertainty from his earlier remarks, Goodell confidently identified himself as one of Swift's fans: “I’m definitely a Swiftie,” he said.
Currently, we must wait for an official announcement, which is expected to come shortly. Last year, officials revealed Kendrick Lamar as the headliner on September 8.
