50 Cent’s studio pledges $124 Million to help transform Shreveport into a Leading Film and TV Center

50 Cent has secured a $124 million agreement to construct three entertainment venues, shortly after launching his new G-Unit Film and TV Studio headquarters in Louisiana.

A film and TV company owned by 50 Cent, 'G-Unit Film and TV Studio,' is investing $124 million in new production studios in Louisiana.

The television and music mogul is taking his long-promised Shreveport vision to the next level.

G-Unit Film & Television Louisiana, LLC has revealed plans to invest over $124 million in a multi-stage project to develop three major entertainment venues in Northwest Louisiana. This initiative could greatly transform downtown Shreveport's role in the film and live entertainment industry.

The redevelopment plan, as stated in a press release, aims to rejuvenate current assets and reintegrate underutilized facilities into the market, while also increasing the state's overall ability to accommodate film, television, digital media projects, and large-scale events.

A study on economic impact, independently commissioned by G-Unit, suggests that the initiative could result in an impressive $18.8 billion in economic impact over the long term, supporting over 6,000 jobs across the state and approximately $300 million in wages over the next 20 years.

Governor Jeff Landry of Louisiana expressed his excitement in a welcome video, portraying the project as further evidence of the region's development and a testament to his administration's efforts to foster a more competitive business environment throughout the state.

The redevelopment will focus on three locations in Shreveport. The plans involve refurbishing the old Stageworks facility to accommodate a variety of live events and production activities. Additionally, G-Unit plans to update the former Millennium Studios campus to enhance its production capabilities for upcoming film and television projects.

The third component of the initiative involves building a dome-style immersive venue alongside a green space park, a blend aimed at boosting tourism and establishing a destination for significant entertainment events. In a statement, 50 referred to the project as the fulfillment of a promise he had earlier made to the city and state.

"This project is the realization of the long-term commitment I have made to the City of Shreveport and the State of Louisiana," 50 Cent said. The plan aims to generate employment, attract new productions to the region, and stimulate local growth, while providing entertainment companies with a reason to establish themselves in Northwest Louisiana.

50 also emphasized his broader objective of transforming the area into a national center for film, music, and live events, concluding with a slogan-like statement: "All Roads Lead to Shreveport."

G-Unit Film & Television, entirely owned by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, has been consistently expanding its presence in the Shreveport-Bossier area, contributing to the broader initiative to enhance motion picture production and entertainment infrastructure in Louisiana.

Louisiana Economic Development (LED) also announced it has signed a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement related to the project, which permits up to $50 million in performance-based funding for eligible infrastructure and modernization enhancements at the three locations. The state highlighted that the funding is contingent upon meeting certain benchmarks, such as economic impact, completion of infrastructure improvements, and collaboration with local businesses.

The Shreveport Film & Entertainment Economic Development Corporation has been established to manage the initiative and ensure accountability for the state funding. The board includes LED Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois and several appointees from Louisiana state leadership.
