Rihanna & A$AP Rocky have welcomed their third child, a girl, Rocky says that their next child will be named “Denzel” regardless of the child’s gender

Rihanna announced the birth of their first daughter, Rocki Irish Mayers, who arrived on Sept. 13.

Earlier this year, Rihanna announced her pregnancy before the 2025 Met Gala, where she was seen with a noticeable baby bump upon arriving at her hotel.

On Wednesday, September 24, Rihanna shared on Instagram that their daughter, Rocki Irish Mayers, was born on September 13.

Rocki is the couple's third child, born after their sons RZA Athelson Mayers in May 2022 and Riot Rose Mayers in August 2023.

In an April interview with Interview Magazine, Rihanna discussed her plans for expanding her family, telling Mel Ottenberg, “I’ll have as many as God wants me to have … I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”

ASAP Rocky expressed similar hopes in an Elle interview released on Tuesday (Sept. 23), just a day before they welcomed their newborn, stating, “I hope it’s a girl. I really do. We’re praying for a girl. Our first time, we wanted to know the sex of the baby. The second time, we didn’t want to know. Third time, we don’t want to know until, you know ... I feel like it’s going to be a girl. This pregnancy is so different from the other two. You can tell from the experience. I hope it’s a baby girl, man. I need that.”

During a GQ interview, Rocky humorously mentioned the idea of naming the baby after his Highest 2 Lowest co-star, Denzel Washington.

“Denzel, no matter what,” Rocky told the magazine. “The first female [to] come out named Denzel, it’s lit. We got it figured out.”

For months, there had been clues regarding the baby's gender. During the worldwide premiere of The Smurfs, Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier questioned Rocky about it. “that’s girl you’ve been waiting for?”

The Harlem rapper smiled and responded, “It is, man. It is,” before holding up a Smurfette plush doll and joking, “Right here.”

As Rocky gets ready to launch his album Don’t Be Dumb and debut his initial fashion partnership with Moncler, Rihanna has largely stayed silent regarding her music.

Although there are rumors of a reggae album and various indications that she has been back in the recording studio, Rihanna has not confirmed any plans to release a full album. Her last album was 2016’s ANTI, but she did release a new song “Friend of Mine” for The Smurfs soundtrack earlier this year.
