Jay-Z is returning to the stage.
On May 30, as revealed on Tuesday (March 17), HOV and The Roots are set to headline the 2026 edition of the Roots Picnic at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia. In a statement, Shawn Gee, the manager of The Roots and president of Live Nation Urban, described the upcoming performance as one of several “bucket-list moments” for all involved.
“After meeting with Mayor Cherelle Parker and hearing her vision for Philadelphia 250, she truly inspired us to dream even bigger, and we’re grateful to her, Commissioner Susan Slawson, Jazelle Jones and everyone who helped make it happen,” Gee added in a statement provided to Complex. “We can’t wait to see everyone in May at the Plat.”
The performance will take place ahead of the rap icon's Reasonable Doubt album anniversary

The Roots Picnic is scheduled for May 30 and May 31 at the Plat. Click here for ticket information, including options for general admission and VIP. Importantly, this event will be Jay's first stage appearance since 2018. It also signifies the first performance together in over a decade for the 25-time Grammy winner and The Roots.
In recent months, there has been significant speculation that Jay might be gearing up to release a new album soon, although no official confirmation has been made at this time. Amidst the rumors, he has taken some actions on streaming platforms that some fans believe could indicate activity stirring in the HOV-iverse.
