The Long Beach rapper performed at the first ever Crypto Ball on Friday night (Jan. 17.), ahead of Donald Trump's inauguration, but his fans weren't happy and branded the West Coast legend a 'sell out.'
The event, hosted by Trump’s affiliate, former PayPal COO David Sacks, in Washington, D.C., featured performances from the West Coast native and other rappers, including Rick Ross, Soulja Boy, and Nelly, the latter of whom will perform at Trump’s inauguration.
Images and videos circulated of Snoop performing and DJ’ing for the MAGA supporters.
The footage of Snoop performing for the president-elect’s event was met with expressions of shock and anger from fans, some of whom brought up a 2017 old clip. Snoop called any Black artist who performed at Trump’s first inauguration a “jigaboo” and “Uncle Tom,” but his stance towards the Republican has softened in recent years.
Snoop Dogg's clips quickly spread of Snoop performing on stage, as well as footage of his aforementioned comments—leading to a swift backlash online.
Snoop Dogg has been a lot kinder to Donald Trump ever since he pardoned Death Row co-founder Michael “Harry O” Harris in early 2021.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Snoop said: “Donald Trump? He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris. So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump.”
