Snoop Dogg is down over half a million Instagram followers after his performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The New York Post, reported on Monday (January 27), the rap icon has lost 571,800 followers on Instagram since taking the stage at the Crypto Ball on January 17, where Rick Ross and Soulja Boy also performed.
Snoop has also loses thousands of fans on X (formerly Twitter), where his follower count has decreased by almost 20,000.
Despite some fans turning their back on him, Snoop still boasts more than 88 million followers on Instagram and over 20 million on X.
Fans were taken aback by Snoop's performance since he called out Black people for standing for Trump during his first presidential term eight years ago. However, the hip-hop star had a much different tune this go around, and he even clapped back at critics who questioned his move.
Snoop recently spoke about the heavy backlash he's been receiving, saying in an Instagram Live. “For all that hate, I’m going to answer with love. Y’all can’t hate enough on me. I love too much. Get your life right; stop worrying about mine. I’m cool; I’m together. Still a Black man, still 100 percent Black.”
He continued. calling for unity among Black people, urging them to uplift each other instead of tearing each other down. “I’m a strong Black man, I’m cut from a different cloth. You can’t tear me down. I’m one of God’s children, and I’m taking the load,” he said.
Snoop's post didn't appear to win his fans back, as they've been dropping off his socials like flies.
Snoop Dogg was a vocal Donald Trump critic early on, his stance shifted after Trump pardoned Death Row co-founder Michael “Harry O” Harris in 2021. Reflecting on this, Snoop told The Sunday Times: “Donald Trump? He ain’t done nothing wrong to me… He pardoned Michael Harris. So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump.”
