The King of the South aka T.I. plans to retire from rap following the release of his next album, Kill the King.

The Long-awaited album, Kill The King, will be his final project before he retires from music.
The Atlanta rap rapper announced on Sunday, (February 1), at the 2026 Grammy Awards: “Let Em Know,” produced by Pharrell,” he revealed to Entertainment Tonight. “It's my first single from my final album. I'm going to be finished.”
While attending the Grammy Awards with his wife, Tiny, T.I. spoke candidly about stepping away from music. “It’s a blessing, man. ‘Let Em Know,’ produced by Pharrell, is my first single off of my final album. It’s time for me to be done. They should know it; I’ve stated it before,” He explained that his priorities have shifted toward family and other creative ambitions he has yet to fully explore. The album, he suggested, represents closure rather than retreat.
T.I. elaborated why it's time to retire from using the mic. “I think I have many gifts that God has given me, man, that I could spend some more time and attention on and spend more time at home with my family and grandchildren,” T.I. added. “It’s plenty stuff to do.”
Last month, Tip released the new track "Let Em Know" to rave reviews. This is his first music release in recent months since he started pursuing his passion for stand-up comedy, which he has been doing for the past few years. The MC also released a new comedy special titled "Cheaper Than Therapy" last December.
TIP's final studio album is titled Kill the King. Last month, He confirmed this as his definitive 12th studio project before retiring. The album follows 2020's L.I.B.R.A. and includes the Pharrell-produced single "Let Em Know". This "double album" is intended to conclude his musical journey and allow him to concentrate on other ventures.
Although a release date has not yet been announced, Kill The King has been in development for several years.
