Cardi B launches Am I the Drama? album covers featuring memes from her viral court moments following $24M lawsuit victory

Cardi B is leveraging her viral court appearance memes from last week to market her upcoming album, Am I the Drama, scheduled for release on September 19.

The Bronx rapper appeared in court after a former security guard filed a lawsuit, claiming she assaulted him in 2018 during an encounter at a medical office.

On Tuesday, Sept. 2, a Los Angeles jury determined that Cardi was not liable for assault and battery against former security guard Emani Ellis, who had filed a $24 million lawsuit against her for the alleged incident.

The following day, the rapper started selling limited editions of her upcoming album, Am I the Drama?, featuring viral meme photos of herself in court as the cover art.

Described as the "Courtroom Edition" of Cardi's upcoming second album, four new versions (three CDs and one vinyl record) are offered, each featuring humorous screenshots of her viral court reactions.

"I mean look!… BY POPULAR DEMAND, the court room edition of AM I THE DRAMA? is available NOW," wrote Cardi on social media.

In 2020, Ellis alleged that the "Outside" artist attacked her outside a Beverly Hills medical office in February 2018.

The jury's decision stated that Cardi does not have to pay any damages and was not found guilty of Ellis' accusations that the rapper struck her, cut her face, spat on her, and used racial slurs against her.

The jury determined that Ellis did not successfully demonstrate any of her allegations that Cardi was involved in assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence.

When Cardi testified during the trial, numerous intense interactions with the plaintiff's lawyer, Ron Rosen Janfaza, went viral because of her candid, profanity-filled replies and lively gestures, such as eye rolls and shrugs.

During another viral moment as Cardi was giving her testimony, Rosen Janfaza inquired about legal terminology and remarked,"When I’m talking to you now, are we having a verbal altercation?"

Cardi responded, "We’re having, I’ll say, a debate," drawing a laugh from the crowd in the courtroom.

After the verdict, Cardi spoke to reporters outside the courtroom, "I did not touch that woman. With that being said, this time around, I'm gonna be nice. The next time someone tries to do a frivolous lawsuit against me, I'm going to countersue. I’m going to make you pay, because this is not okay."

She continued, "I think people have this misinterpretation of celebrities, that like, 'Oh well, we can ask for this and they're going to settle.' You don't work at home, and you don't work all day, and you don't work for your money to give out your money. So don't ever think I'm just gonna give you my money that I work hard for. I don't lay in bed all day. I work all day, and I work hard for my money for my kids and for people I take care of."

Cardi also urged her fans to refrain from bothering Ellis and her family on social media, explaining she wants to "put this all behind."

Am I the Drama? is scheduled for release on September 19 and will include the singles "Imaginary Playerz," "Outside," "Up," and "WAP."
