'Reboot of Scary Movie': Anna Faris and Regina Hall reunite with the Wayans Brothers for a 2026 release.
The film Scary Movie 6 is scheduled to start filming in October 2025.

According to Deadline, Anna Faris and Regina Hall are reuniting for a scare. The actresses will reprise their roles as Cindy and Brenda in the upcoming installment of the “Scary Movie” series. Marlon Wayans also announced the news on his Instagram, posting a picture of the pair from the original film.
“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again),” Faris and Hall said in a statement about their return.
The Wayans brothers' reboot is set to hit theaters on June 12, 2026. After 18 years, the brothers are coming together to create an original script for the revival of the horror parody series, collaborating with Rick Alvarez on writing and production. Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Lowey, and Thomas Zadra are serving as executive producers.
“Scary Movie” (2000) became one of the top-grossing R-rated horror films ever. It premiered with a box office opening of $42.5 million, setting a record for the largest debut for both an R-rated horror film and a Black director at that time. The “Scary Movie” franchise was created by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Keenen Ivory Wayans.
Keenen Ivory Wayans was the writer and director of the first two films, while Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans were both writers and stars in those films. This upcoming release will be the sixth installment in the franchise.
Miramax is the studio producing the series, and Paramount Pictures is handling its worldwide release. "Scary Movie" is included in Paramount's first-look agreement with Miramax.
In a recent interview on Big Boy's Neighborhood, Marlon Wayans stated that the filming of the new Scary Movie film, reportedly called "Scary Movie 6," is set to start on October 1st.
