Rick Ross hits Cease-and-Desist to Remy Ma for her film ‘The Biggest Boss,’ Focused on a Cop-Turned-Rapper
Rick Ross has taken legal action concerning a film project associated with his well-known nickname. The rapper's lawyers issued a cease and desist letter to Remy Ma and The Remy Network, insisting they stop the release of a film titled ‘The Biggest Boss.’ According to the letter, which TMZ acquired, the project allegedly uses Ross’s music and trade name without permission and misleads fans into thinking he is connected to or has endorsed the production.
Rozay team highlighted social media comments as proof of the confusion, noting that fans were publicly speculating that the film was associated with him or had his approval just because of the title. The letter insists that the project be halted before progressing in its present form.
The film's concept introduces an additional layer of tension to the controversy. The plot is said to involve a police officer who appropriates a drug dealer's life story to start a rap career, a premise that uncomfortably mirrors Ross's own history. Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, was a correctional officer prior to beginning his rap career, a background that has remained with him and continues to be a topic of discussion in hip-hop communities.
Remy Ma responds and pulls the title
A spokesperson for Remy Ma informed TMZ that the rapper was not personally aware of the issues being highlighted and that she regards the matter with seriousness. The statement highlighted that Remy and Ross have sustained both a personal and professional relationship for over 20 years, and that she would never deliberately engage in any action intended to damage his brand or cause offense.
The representative also verified that Remy contacted Ross directly when the issue was highlighted to her, leading to the immediate removal of the title from The Remy Network. The platform stated it is collaborating with its partners to enhance internal review procedures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
The quick removal of the title indicates that the issue might be settled without going to court, although Ross's lawyers have not yet stated whether the cease and desist will be retracted or if there are still other demands to be addressed.
