BIG 3 founder Ice Cube says Angel Reese won’t get $5 million offer like Caitlin Clark

Ice Cube once offered Caitlin Clark the opportunity to play for his BIG3 basketball league before she joined the WNBA in 2024.
Ice Cube explained that his BIG3 basketball league did not offer Angel Reese the same $5 million contract that was extended to Caitlin Clark because sponsors indicated Clark's involvement would bring significantly more revenue to the league than Reese's. He emphasized that the decision was based on business considerations rather than any personal preference for Clark over Reese, according to TMZ Sports.
Cube told TMZ Sports that BIG3 received assurances from corporate sponsors justifying a $5 million offer for Clark. Those same parties "didn't tell us the same thing about Angel Reese."
"I don't think we can make that same offer because it won't have the same impact to the league," the California rap legend said.
Cube, co-founder of the BIG3, clarified that while Reese is a talented player, the league's sponsors did not express the same level of enthusiasm for her potential impact on revenue as they did for Clark. He stated that the sponsors were clear that Clark's presence would unlock millions for the league due to her star power.
Angel Reese has also alluded to how her WNBA earnings are only a small fraction of what she makes.
The second-year forward was among the stars who signed on for the inaugural season of Unrivaled, the three-on-three league co-founded by the Minnesota Lynx's Napheesa Collier and New York Liberty's Breanna Stewart. As a member of league champion Rose BC, she received a $50,000 bonus on top of her standard Unrivaled deal.
Reese's popularity remains as high as ever. Just this month, Reebok unveiled her first signature sneaker and she was revealed as the cover star for NBA 2K26's "WNBA Edition."
The 23-year-old has improved on the court as well. She's averaging 13.8 points on 44.8 percent shooting along with 12.5 rebounds through 22 games with Chicago.
