Cardi B claims Offset is delaying the divorce due to tax debts, financial, and Property Demands

Cardi B asserts Offset is delaying their divorce process due to issues with property and finances.

During a livestream on X Spaces on Monday (Sept. 22), Cardi expressed her frustrations about her ongoing.

During a Twitter Spaces session on September 22, 2025, she mentioned that Offset is refusing to sign their divorce papers unless she covers his multimillion-dollar tax debts, provides millions in cash, and transfers one of her properties. The couple, married since 2017 and parents to three children, separated after Cardi filed for divorce in August 2024 due to irreconcilable differences; she has primary custody and pays child support, while Offset faces financial difficulties, including tax liens and lawsuits. This revelation underscores the ongoing tensions in their California divorce proceedings, which are being conducted under community property laws, with no immediate response from Offset.

“The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes,” Cardi B said during the stream, without calling out Offset by his name. “Y’all wanna know the tea? The only way I can get out of my marriage is if I pay for somebody else’s taxes, even though I pay for my own, and give them one of my properties. I’mma fight for that. This is not no love shit. I’m not gonna stop living my life.”

Cardi started the stream following a surge of criticism after she announced she’s pregnant with her fourth child—her first with her boyfriend Stefon Diggs, just days before her new album Am I the Drama? is released.

Among those critics was Crissle West, co-host of The Read, who stated that children “need parents who are very mindful and deliberate about bringing [them] into the world, choosing to guide you into adulthood.”

“Yo mama out here giving her pussy to whoever the fuck she wants to and keeping whatever y’all drop off in her fucking uterus is crazy,” West said on the podcast.

“Also, stop trying to make it seem like I got a hundred gazillion baby daddies. I have three kids with one man that I got married with,” Cardi also said on Monday’s stream. “Yes, I'm having a baby with somebody else. So what that happens, it's life.

“Let me tell you something, I did things the correct way the first time. I fell in love. I got two rings in my finger. I lasted seven years, seven years that I didn't have to last with somebody with. I lasted seven years in a marriage. Stop saying, oh, but you're still married. No, I'm legally separated.”

Elsewhere in the stream, Cardi said the toll of her relationship with Offset required her to seek an unspecified treatment.

“Y’all don’t know half of the shit,” she exclaimed. “I had to go to a fuckign hospital because I couldn’t take it no more … When your management and your label is getting together because they are concerned, it's time to go. When it’s affecting your work and you can’t even record, it’s time to go. And I left. Goddamn.”
