Trump is reportedly "personally pressing" Ellison to reboot the franchise.

Donald Trump urges Larry Ellison to bring back the ‘Rush Hour’ series as Paramount competes for Warner Bros. Discovery
President Donald Trump is advocating for a new Rush Hour film, specifically Rush Hour 4, as reported by KFOX and Yahoo. He has allegedly communicated this to Larry Ellison, who is anticipated to assume control of Paramount studios.
The president wants to see a return of action-comedy films from the 1980s and 1990s, with Rush Hour being a key example.
This decision follows Trump's approval of Paramount Skydance's offer to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery in a major transaction, Ellison, who co-founded Oracle, holds a significant interest in Paramount, where his son David Ellison serves as CEO.
“Rush Hour” one through three mixes physical comedy with martial arts skills and includes a number of jokes about racial stereotypes.
The Rush Hour franchise, starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan, consists of three films released in 1998, 2001, and 2007.
In May 2025, Jackie Chan provided an update on the possibility of Rush Hour 4, saying, "Ask the director, ask the writer... Hurry up!"
The franchise's director, Brett Ratner, known for directing successful films such as "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "The Revenant," was ostracized from Hollywood following allegations of sexual misconduct by six women in 2017.
However, he has managed to make a comeback in the film industry, dedicating several months earlier this year to closely observing First Lady Melania Trump for a $40 million Amazon documentary about her life.
Arthur Sarkissian, the producer of “Rush Hour,” now leads the production company responsible for “The Man You Don’t Know,” a positive documentary about Trump that includes interviews with several of his children and his granddaughter, Kai Trump.
The film debuted at Mar-a-Lago, Florida, during Trump's 2024 presidential campaign.
Neither the White House nor Paramount immediately responded to The Post’s requests for comment.
According to Semafor, Trump’s “Rush Hour” campaign is his latest effort to bring back 1980s and 1990s pop culture.
The president, who enjoys sports-action movies like the 1988 film “Bloodsport” featuring Jean Claude Van Damme, has invited tough-guy celebrities such as actor Sylvester Stallone and boxer Mike Tyson to the White House.
