Flavor Flav goes viral after national anthem performance at Milwaukee Bucks game on Sunday night.
Flav's rendition was compared to past national anthem performances by Fergie & Marvin Gaye
NBA fans didn't know what to make of the Public Enemy rapper's performance.
The Milwaukee Bucks invited rapper Flavor Flav to sing the national anthem ahead of Sunday night's game against the Atlanta Hawks, and he put on quite a show.
There have been plenty of big swings in the history of the national anthem being played at sporting events.
On one side of the scale, there is Marvin Gaye at the 1983 NBA All-Star Game, at the other end is Fergie's rendition at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game.
Where Flavor Flav falls on that spectrum is up to the listener, but there is little doubt that he gave it his all with the lights on and the mic in his hand.
Despite the jokes, Flavor Flav took to social media to reveal how honored he was to be considered for the special occasion.
“The anthem was a long time bucket list item … that was fun! I can’t live my life worried about what people might say about me,” Flavor Flav wrote on Twitter X, seemingly aware of the chatter surrounding his performance.
“I won’t let that stop me from trying new things and doing things I wanna do. Some people might not like that. But a sure failure is if you stop trying.”
Reactions to the performance were mixed, with some praising Flav for having fun with it, while others were seemingly offended at his rendition.
