A recent documentary about Ye delves into his mental health and includes a dramatic scene where the rapper yells at his former mother-in-law, Kris Jenner.

Kanye West yells at Kris Jenner while she pleads with him to take his medication in a dramatic documentary scene
YE screamed at Kris Jenner during a tense conversation about taking his medication in the rapper’s new “In Whose Name?” documentary.
In a wild scene, the Grammy winner insisted to his then-mother-in-law that he would “rather be dead” than medicated.
“Y’all demasculated me and made me feel like a piece of s–t,” he said. “And the only reason you got away with it is because I was medicated.”
“No one from the family is taking any responsibility for my hospital visit, but if you wanna go online, that’s 50 percent of what people say. At least,” Kanye said. “Am I lying?”
When Kris responded that “it doesn’t matter,” Kanye began to scream. “It does matter!” he yelled repeatedly, shouting over Jenner as the talent manager pointed out that she hadn’t “finished a sentence.”
The “Kardashians” star was able to clarify, “It matters to us and you. It doesn’t matter what the internet says. It matters what we think, Ye.”
As she spoke, West stormed past her and grabbed a gray sweatshirt and red “Make America Great Again” hat off the kitchen countertop.
Kanye rushed back into the room, asking, “So what do you think? Did you have an effect on my mental health?”
Kris, who had broken down into tears at this point, responded, “Yes. Yes. Yes. I’m saying yes. And I love you. I love you. I don’t want you to be not perfect. I love you.”
Kris continued, “I want my daughter [Kim Kardashian] to love you the way you want her to love you.”
In 2014, Kanye married Kardashian. Together, they have four children: daughter North, 12, son Saint, 9, daughter Chicago, 7, and son Psalm, 6. The former couple divorced in 2022.
During their marriage, West was diagnosed with bipolar disorder — but later clarified, “Come to find out, it’s really a case of autism that I have.”
Kim Kardashian is also featured in the documentary, out Friday, and was included in multiple trailers for the project.
“In Whose Name?” premieres in select theaters on Friday.
