Method Man explains how he began his fitness journey while coping with insomnia: “I Should Just Go To Gym, Work Some Of This Sh*t Off”

Method Man recently appeared on Hasan Minhaj's podcast, "Hasan Minhaj Doesn't Know,". They discussed a variety of topics, including Method Man's career, his experience in the entertainment industry, and his personal life.


In addition to being among the greatest rappers ever, Method Man has recently transformed his physique and is now in the best shape of his life. He recently shared that his insomnia contributed to his getting shredded.


While appearing on Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know, Johnny Blaze revealed 

“I’m going through this insomnia, and I’m thinking to myself, ‘I have a membership at the gym. ‘Maybe I should just go to the gym and work some of this sh*t off. Maybe I’ll get some rest. One day turned into two. Two days turned into three, and I’m talking 4 am in the morning, brother, every day,” Meth explained. “And I had no routine. I didn’t have anything, but I had the mentality of, there are 24 hours in a day. If I can sit down and watch Game of Thrones for an hour and make sure that I’m there with, no commercials, by the way, I can go to the gym and do something for myself for an hour, whether it be lifting the barbell or whatever.”


“And three days turned into five, and then this routine started happening, and I fell in love with it because it made me feel like I wasn’t a loser.  It made me feel like I had some discipline. I could pat myself on the back for accomplishing something, and I did something with my day, that day, as opposed to being on Call of Duty or playing Madden or NBA 2k.


As the discussion went on, Method Man shared some tips for those in his age bracket who are nervous about going to the gym.


“I think I would love to promote a healthy lifestyle for anybody that came from my era, or anybody who’s in my age range, and tell them that it’s not as hard as they think it is. The hardest part is or the hardest hump to get over, is doing your workout before you actually get in the gym,’ the Wu-Tang Clan co-founder explained. “This is gonna suck. It’s gonna hurt. I’m gonna throw up. I’m gonna do this. It’s not always like that.”


Hasan subsequently inquired of Method Man, “How do you get over leg day?”


Leg day, you never get over leg day,” Method laughed. “If you find anybody that loves leg day, stay away from them. They’re crazy.”
